There are ample opportunities for recreation in the Gilbert Plains area. The town is located centrally to three parks, including Riding Mountain National Park and two provincial parks. Area residents enjoy fishing, boating, camping, hiking, curling, hunting, cycling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, golfing and skiing (both cross country and downhill).
